TL DR - when I buy a Mac I fully expect to get five years out of it as a primary computer.I once heard Michael Rapaport, the director of this documentary and diehard New York sports fan, explain that Lawrence Taylor was the greatest player in NFL history because he won the league MVP while on crack. While I could have had Apple fix it, I didn't like the price of $630 and just bought a MacBook Air for $1000. My 2007 iMac suffered a logic board failure at about five years of heavy usage. I don't see the battery, DVD drive, and HDD as ending its life since all are fairly easy to replace/fix. While I can see their point, it can still do what it did when new so it is a functional machine. Has not seen much action these past four years.īut many wouldn't consider all those 13 years since long ago it was dropped from OS X upgrades. It was my primary machine for five years and often used as a secondary computer for four.
So in just a functioning stance, that one is like 13 years old and still kicking. I have a 12" PowerBook from 2002 that still runs, the DVD drive has been broke since 2008 and I'm on my second battery and it needs replaced again for actual laptop usage.
